I started LiveModernCharlotte.com in 2010 in hopes of bringing you great ideas for mid-century modern living and new MCM resources.
A Little About Me
My love affair with mid-century modern homes began years ago when I was a teenager growing up in a 1950’s Midwest neighborhood.When I moved to Charlotte in 2002, I was immediately captivated by Charlotte’s modern homes. Charlotte’s mid-century modern heritage is rich; from modest atomic ranches in the Madison Park neighborhood to the sprawling MCM custom homes of the Cloisters and Foxcroft. I have found interesting modern homes in almost every neighborhood of Charlotte. I was surprised and dismayed at how poorly these modern homes were being marketed and were generally ignored. As a result, modern homes were demolished or sold for land value.
I am happy to have become a part of what is now a thriving Modern Charlotte community of homeowners, buyers and modern enthusiasts. I have researched neighborhoods, mid-century modern architects and actively work with non-profit groups that promote preservation of Charlotte’s mid-century modern architecture.
In 2009, Charlotte had its very first Mid-Century Modern Home Tour of which I was happy to chair in partnership with Historic Charlotte. It was a huge success and featured a whopping 18 MCM homes! I also assist George Smart of Triangle Modernist Houses with his research on Charlotte’s MCM architects and mid-century modern home inventory.
My goal as a real estate broker has been to avidly promote these wonderful homes which led to the creation of my site ModernCharlotte.com and to Modern Charlotte Realty.
